RLB+A Recognized by NAIOP with Architectural Design Award
NAIOP Northern Ohio Chapter presented its annual Awards of Excellence on Friday, May 14, at The Downtown Marriott at Key Center. Architectural Design of the Year Award was presented to Richard L. Bowen + Associates for Developers Diversified Realty Corporation's new headquarters building.
This design/build project led by Premier Development Partners involved the completion of the existing Developers Diversified Realty office campus with the final and largest of three buildings. The most important aspect of the design was keeping the new headquarters physically and visually connected to the company’s existing buildings. This was achieved by including a steel-and-glass pedestrian connector bridge, as well as designing the new building with the same materials as the existing two structures. Design intent was not to mimic the other buildings, but to allow the new building to complement the others. In order to achieve this, the building was designed with more prominent design features since it would be central to the completed office campus.
NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, is the leading organization for developers, owners and related professionals in office, industrial and mixed-use real estate. Its Northern Ohio Chapter's annual award program recognizes the best projects, real estate transactions, and individual performance during the previous year in the commercial real estate industry in Northern Ohio.
