OSFC School Assessment Program

Bowen was chosen the lead consultant in a team of consultants performing complete facility assessment of 55 existing elementary, middle, junior & senior high schools across 11 school districts.

This assessment covers all architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, along with documentation of existing structural conditions, and the entire school site. Existing hazardous material documentation is reviewed and incorporated into the assessment, but no original testing or documentation of hazardous materials is performed. Schools are assessed for over-all compliance with the OSFC Design Manual standards and Ohio Basic Building Code compliance.

Scope of work includes review of all existing documentation, photographing and recording all details of the existing conditions. The next step is to record all findings onto the OSFC web site. As the assessing consultant, Bowen is responsible for complete cost estimate to repair or replace current school facilities. This information is then reviewed by the master assessing consultant, the educational planner, and OSFC, to create a final master plan to be presented to each school district.
