Laketran Headquarters

An enhanced facility to serve growing needs

Laketran, a regional transit authority with more than 640,000 riders annually, had outgrown of their 30-year old headquarters. Looking to the future, they hired Bowen to lead the renovation and expansion of this facility. Our team began the project with an extensive assessment to gain insight into its physical characteristics, systems, site, and operations. Bowen’s design worked to address the issues raised in this analysis.

A new 27,150 SF bus storage addition accommodates Laketran’s expanding bus fleet. A new 11,000 SF administrative addition creates a more dynamic and productive environment for the Operations and Maintenance departments. Existing areas received a complete renovation, updating furniture and finishes while creating new collaboration, meeting, and break spaces.

Bowen’s design included a detailed phasing plan that allowed the vital facility to maintain operations during construction. The completed project is something that both Laketran and the residents of Lake County can be proud of, and is also now a facility that will let Laketran grow over the next 20-30 years!
